During the month of April 2024, Dr. James Opara led a team of medical professionals to medically underserved rural Achi-Mbieri Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria for a medical mission. While in the community, they provided free primary care, patient education services, and the tools for self-care for acute and chronic medical conditions. The common conditions treated included but were not limited to Hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Malaria, Arthritis, and various Gastrointestinal and skin diseases. Patients came from other neighboring communities, and the catchment areas covered a 50-mile radius. Each day started spiritually with an opening prayer, songs, and praises.

Dr. Opara stated that it was very emotional to leave at the conclusion of the mission trip but was comforted knowing that arrangements were in place for the local medical providers to continue taking care of the patients until the next medical mission trip in 2025.
